Thank you for your interest in the Benghazi European School. I hope that you will find the information you need as you browse through the following pages. As you will discover, the BES is a well-established institution with an enviable reputation for quality education. High on our list of priorities is the commitment to provide our young people with a caring learning environment which focuses on developing self-confidence and independence.

The eruption of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a radical change of approach to teaching in schools and universities worldwide and the BES is no exception. Consequently we have had to resort to delivering all classes online in order to secure the health and safety of our students and their families.... See more

Dear Students and Parents,

I would like to inform you that the new Academic Year 2020-2021 has already started online. Parents wishing to register their child/children can do so at the BES Registrar’s Office which is open daily from 08:30 to 14:00. Students are required to contact the Registrar’s office to access the codes necessary to follow their lessons online.

We have a difficult year ahead of us and we need the full cooperation of all to complete it with the same degree of success achieved last academic year. Over the following days and weeks, we will update you with the relevant information about labs and other activities.

As we are all painfully aware, power cuts and weakness/failure of internet connection are our main problems affecting the successful participation in online lessons. We are working hard on trying to find solutions and, in fact, we are communicating with various Servers with a view to recording all lessons each day, thus making all classes available when power is available. The technical details will be posted when we have all the information we need to put this service into action.  Watch this space!

It is important to remember that this is a very new experience for us all: we have to work hard together to achieve our goals.

Stay home and stay safe.

Breaking News

Dear Parents and Students,

The Benghazi European School is delighted to announce that we're partnering with AMIDEAST to host an information session through ZOOM on the YES program on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. . Students and Parents of Year 10 and Year 11 are welcomed to join the information session. Details regarding the access code will be announced later.

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program provides scholarships for high school students to study for one academic year in the United States. YES students live with a host family, attend an American high school, acquire leadership skills, and engage in activities to learn about U.S. society and values; they also help educate Americans about their home country and culture.

Dear Students, Parents and Members of Staff,

On behalf of the Board, I would like to use the commencement of the academic year 2020/2021 to wish you all a successful, safe and happy year. We are all aware that it is going to be a demanding time for teachers, students and parents:  teaching will continue to be online for the present and not in the comfort of our small community premises. Our common aim, as on several occasions in the history of our school, is to work together to make the best of adverse conditions and make this another highly successful academic year. We have done it in the past and we will do it again!

On behalf of the Board, I want to assure you that we will do our very best to keep the school operational in the most efficient way in this ‘new normal’ world we must all learn to come to terms with.

Together we will remain safe and healthy.

George Sayannos

Chairman of the Board
